Some women go through hair loss after pregnancy. Although these two do not necessarily go hand in hand, a lot of new mothers have a chance of experiencing rapid hair fall. This is why it is important to try to find out more about the connection between giving birth and hair issues. The right information can help women understand what should be done.

First of all, it is important to know that losing some hair strands every day is normal. More or less around 100 strands a day are shed. We often notice this on different parts of the day. Hair can be left on the pillow in the mornings, on brushes after combing or on bathroom tiles after a shower. If you have just given birth, you may experience this same pattern of normal hair fall. As already mentioned though, childbirth can lead to excessive hair shedding.

Falling hair after pregnancy often does not happen immediately after the baby is born. It can take up three months or more for mothers to experience it. For first timers, the experience can be quite alarming. There is however, no need to panic. Your falling strands are not caused by the stresses of new motherhood and will definitely not lead to complete baldness. There is a perfectly logical scientific explanation for new mothers undergoing hair loss.

Hair shedding is actually related to hormone levels. As most of us already know, pregnancy is a period when women have higher levels of estrogen. This female hormone normally regulates dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a male hormone that is also present to some extent in women. In susceptible individuals, DHT can cause the hair follicles to shrink, thereby causing hair thinning. But since a pregnant woman has a lot of estrogen, she will not have to worry about thinning hair.

Hair problems come in a few months after pregnancy when estrogen levels begin dropping to the usual levels outside of pregnancy. With less estrogen in the system, hair may start falling. There is no need to worry though. This will only be temporary. In a few months, the rate of hair fall will eventually return to normal.

There is nothing that can be done to completely stop hair loss after pregnancy. The best solution is to simply wait for it to stop. Keeping a short hair cut though might help reduce the appearance of hair thinning. New mothers should also avoid tight hairstyles since these can make hair problems worse by pulling hair out of the roots and causing traction alopecia.

When looking up information on hair loss after pregnancy, about the only thing you’ll really find is you have to wait for it to grow back. In like a year. It is nice to know it will come back, but what do you do in the meantime?

When I lost a lot of hair, it was long so it was more noticeable, and my forehead grew from so much loss. The first thing I did was to go make an appointment to get it cut off because I was upset. I sat and spent some time with my hairdresser and found out which part of my hair was the thickest and was less prone to this falling out, and we worked on getting a shorter style that incorporated where I had hair to cover where I was losing so much.

After that, she told me to use hair care products that were made for thin hair and added volume to the strands. There are shampoos and mousse and even weekly treatment to make your hair look thicker which can help while you have to wait for it to grow back in.

The best advice I did get was to stop dying my hair. This can actually make it fall out faster, and caused more damage to the follicle. If you do have to dye it, find a rinse at a beauty supply store. While you can only go with a shade of your natural color, this is much less harmful on your hair then they dying process. I was also told to not wash it every day, so the hair can rest and be less brittle, and I went to washing it every other day, which did help after a few weeks.

It can also be a hormonal balance as well. Eating right, exercising and spending time in the sun can help relieve depression and also help make your hair healthy by allowing your system to revert back to normal faster. Laugh often, since stress can also be a factor in losing your hair and it will help transition into being a new mom easier.

If you really worry about it, go see a doctor. They can help you find vitamins and determine if the hair loss and thinning is from another cause other then having a baby.

You can always do what I did when I got a bald spot. Buy a wig. They are inexpensive now, and I owned them in every color, length and style imaginable. Own them and have fun with it if you go this route.

If you are experiencing hair loss after pregnancy, know that it will grow back. My baby is now over a decade old and I’ve kept to the hair regimen I followed when he was born and it managed to help me keep my hair looking better today then it ever has. All the bald spots and thinness does go away, and I hope you find these tip will help you deal with your own hair loss a little better.

Not every female will experience hair loss after pregnancy. Those who do however may feel reasonably alarmed. Because the condition is not frequently spoken of, not everyone knows why it happens and how to deal with it.

Although women differ from one another, all childbirth-related strand fall cases are due to changes in hormone levels. Estrogen levels normally drop after childbirth which is the reason for the scalp problem. Losing locks due to childbirth does not happen instantly though. Most cases of the condition happen a few months after delivery and can persist for several more months.

Initially, the condition may seem to be a cause for alarm. In reality though, there may be less of a reason to knit your brows over hair loss after pregnancy. Strand fall does not normally lead to bald spots or large bare areas. What can be expected is only a diffuse thinning across the scalp. This can easily be disguised by certain hairstyles or haircuts.

The condition is also obviously not life-threatening and is not permanent. After several months, strands will return to their usual volume and rate of growth. This means you may not need to use special products or supplements to remedy the condition.

While waiting for your scalp’s system to return to normal however, it makes sense to keep yourself as healthy as possible. Pick only nutritious food choices and do exercise regularly. Doing so can help you feel stronger and better in general.

Hair loss after pregnancy can be a shock at first. All you really need to do however is to just wait for the condition to go away on its own.
